Tax Division

The City of La Porte has partnered for Property Tax Collection Services with GCCISD Tax Services Office as of August 1, 2016. GCCISD Tax Services specializes in property tax collections in an effort to reduce administrative costs and place the savings back to the tax entity. They have provided multi-jurisdiction collections for over thirty years. Payments can still be made at the City of La Porte and utilizing the other options listed below.


Option 1:

Pay in person at the City of La Porte, 604 W. Fairmont Parkway, La Porte, Texas, or at the Baytown GCCISD Tax Services location, 607 W. Baker Rd., Baytown, Texas.  Holidays and hours are posted on the tax website: http://tax.gccisd.net


Option 2: Pay by mail

Taxpayers may mail their payments to the address listed below. U. S. Postal Service Postmarks will be honored as Texas State law requires. Payment can be made by check, money order, Cashier’s Check. Please do not mail cash, money orders are acceptable in lieu of cash. Make your checks payable to: GCCISD Tax Services. Include your detachable portion of the tax bill with payment or your account number and tax year for which you are paying.

Option 3: Website Online Payments

Taxpayers may pay taxes online using a credit card or electronic check at http://tax.gccisd.net . If you experience difficulties we have secondary website payment option: Taxpayers can also go online to: www.officialpayments.com and select jurisdiction code 6128 and follow the prompts to complete your credit card or electronic check payment.


Option 4: Pay by Phone

Taxpayers may make a payment using a credit card by phone. You will need your property tax account number. Payment by phone is: 1-800-272-9829, Jurisdiction Code 6128. (Bilingual services provided)

Industrial District In-Lieu of Taxes

Payments for the city of La Porte Industrial District may be paid by the 2 options provided below:
 

Option 1: In Person 

Pay in person at the City of La Porte City Hall located at 604 W. Fairmont Parkway, La Porte, Texas 77571 Monday- Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. except City observed holidays. We also accept credit card payments with the exception of American Express. 
 

Option 2: By Mail 

Industrial District Payments may also be mailed to the address provided below. U.S. Postal Service Postmarks will be honored as Texas State law requires. Please make checks payable to: City of La Porte and either include the detachable portion of the statement with your payment or provide the property account number and/or contract number for which you are paying.

Hotel Taxes

A hotel's owner, operator, or manager must collect hotel taxes from their guests. For the purposes of the tax, a hotel is considered to be any building in which members of the public rent sleeping accommodations for $15 or more per day. Local hotel taxes apply to sleeping rooms costing $2 or more per day. The tax covers hotels, motels, and bed and breakfasts, as well as condominiums, apartments, and houses rented for less than 30 consecutive days.


Hotel tax does not apply to:

  • Condominiums, apartments, and houses leased for more than 30 consecutive days
  • Hospitals
  • Nursing homes
  • Sanitariums
  • Student dormitories operated by colleges and universities

The current hotel tax rate for the City of La Porte is 7%. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email the Tax Division.

Tax Calendar
The following are important dates in the tax calendar year:
  • January 1: Date that determines taxable and exemption status
  • April 4: Last day for property owners to file renditions
  • May 30: Applications due for 1-d and 1-d-1 AG Use / Timber Wildlife
  • June 2: Deadline for filing written protests to the Appraisal Review Board (or by the 30th day after a notice of appraised value is mailed to the property owner, whichever is later)
  • October 1-31: Tax bills are usually mailed during this month.
  • January 31 of the following year: Last day to pay property taxes without penalty and interest
