About Us

The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is situated in the La Porte Police Department building, located at 3001 North 23rd Street. La Porte OEM works from a state of the art EOC facility.

The emergency management staff currently consists of 2 people and operates with the support of other departments. Along with responding to emergencies and disasters, the emergency management staff plans and prepares for disasters before they happen in order to lessen the impact on the community. This is a coordinated effort between our office, surrounding jurisdictions, industry, and many various organizations, such as the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC).
Emergency Situations
In times of an emergency, the City's executive staff reports to the EOC (Emergency Operations Center). From there, they begin working on a solution to the emergency or disaster that may be occurring. The EOC staff consists of City department directors or their alternate, along with support staff.
